It All Begins With Food

Chocolate Sweet Potato Pie Smoothie, a cookbook review and a giveaway

Anyone who knows me, knows I love to get my hands on a new cookbook.

Natalie Browne The book is full of great information and has some really great ideas for upping the nutrition in some favourite kiddie foods
Natalie Browne It does add a bit of creaminess. It actually tasted a lot like pumpkin pie, so for that reason alone, I'm all for it, lol.

French Lentil and Quinoa Salad

Quinoa salad always makes a lovely light lunch. Combined with French lentils, this salad becomes a little heartier.

Jhuls I haven't tried cooking with quinoa or lentils, though I have tried eating them from friends... and they taste really nice. This looks so delicious and indeed a light meal to enjoy. Thank you for joining this week's Fiesta Friday party. I hope you are having a good time. :)
Natalie Browne Thank you!!

Baked Asparagus with Parmesan Crust, Candied Lemon and Truffle Zest

Cooking with kids is easily one of the best ways to spend quality time with them, especially as they grow older.

Natalie Browne Thanks, Dana. I think the candied lemon is my favourite part about this recipe, too :)
Natalie Browne Thank you! I always love asparagus and lemon together, but I really like the idea of candied lemon in this recipe. And, of course, the truffle zest :)

Simple Pan Roasted Halibut

Simple Pan Roasted Halibut

Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever been more ready for the seasons to change than I was this year. That was the longest, snowiest winter I ever remember.

Natalie Browne Thanks Isabelle. Yes, we really are spoiled out west, when it comes to fresh seafood.
Isabelle @ Crumb Halibut is a big favourite, though what we get here in Toronto is never going to be as good as the beautiful fresh-caught fish in BC. One of the perks of living out west, I guess. :) I love the simplicity of this dish... lots of beautiful fresh flavours, but the halibut is definitely the star (as it should be!)
